WHICH MOSAIC TO APPLY IN SWIMMING POOL?

Can mosaic be used in a swimming pool? Yes, it can! It is a very popular and durable choice for finishing a pool. This is because it does not permeate water, is resistant to chemicals such as chlorine, and it is relatively easy to maintain.

Mosaic can be made very special in the water, such as by choosing a special color or applying a custom pattern. However, consider whether the entire pool should be processed with mosaic or only accents and decorative elements.

Which mosaic in pool

If mosaic does not absorb water, is resistant to chemicals and is also frost-resistant, it can be used as pool mosaic.

Mosaic tiles of different materials can be used in a pool. Within our range, all glass mosaic and porcelain mosaic tiles are suitable. Exceptions are Natural Stone which are too porous and Metallic mosaic tiles which are not resistant to chemicals. In practice, we see that mainly glass mosaic is used in swimming pools.

If you are opting for a pool with mosaic tiles, the Amsterdam collection is an excellent choice! Both the Basic, Gold and Pearl are all suitable for pool use. Normally the Amsterdam collection sits on a fiber net. This leaves an 85% space on the tile to adhere to the adhesive. However, pool builders do not always find this sufficient and desirable, especially when not working with an epoxy adhesive. Therefore, the advice for swimming pools is often to work with paper on the front or with mosaic joined by spot gluing, so that the pebble can adhere 100% to the glue. You should then work with an epoxy grout to avoid all risks of a tile coming loose.

Please note that all colors change under water. Keep in mind that everything turns greener under water. So this is a point to consider when choosing pool tiles.

Delivery time

The delivery time for mosaic with paper on the front or mosaic made with spot gluing is about 14 weeks. This is because this is not something we have in stock in our range as standard. This can then possibly be directly combined with custom work, as this has the same delivery time.
